Downtime in South America
After our few weeks in Punta Del Este Petra headed north to Mexico to visit some friends and I headed south with a friend of mine to Tierra Del Fuego for my annual weeks fishing on the Rio Grande. It is a very special week for me as TDF is one of the most remote places on the planet. Next stop is Antarctica and you really feel as if you are at the bottom of the world.
Not a tree in sight and the wind can be blowing like a hurricane but it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The wild life is amazing there, condors, guanacos, foxes and a whole host of birds I have never seen before are unafraid of humans plus the biggest trout in the world make it a trip I love to take and not a four four beat heard all week.
After that it was back to Buenos Aires where Petra and I met up for a week in my favourite city on the planet. We had a ball as usual eating amazing food and shopping in the Palermo district. We also went to an amazing percussion evening in a really cool outdoors venue called Konex. Then it was off to Lima for me to play on Friday night before heading back to Argentina on Saturday for my show in Cordoba which was to be a very special night indeed.
In the next few weeks I’ll be playing in Athens, Beirut, Cyprus and Barcelona. See you on the dance floor :)
Firstly apologies for the lack of updates. My laptop hard drive decided to join the other hard drives in heaven early in the South America tour and seems to be taking an age in the Mac store to get fixed.
What a great trip it has been so far, New Years Eve at Bora Bora in Brazil was a very wet affair due to the pouring rain but thanks so much for the folks who did make it out.
On the 3rd of January I played at the mighty Warung Club, Brazil’s finest and one of the top clubs in the world. Brilliant as always with such an enthusiastic crowd.
Petra and I had a few days off with our friends James and Tash who took us horse riding up in the mountains of Brazil. My horse did really well but the poor thing looked knackered after a few hours of carrying me up and down.
The it was on to Uruguay, just past Punta Del Este is the lovely village of Jose Ignacio where we met up with Ian Hindmarsh and his family along with John Digweed who was based there while doing his South American tour.
(John, Chris and myself at restaurant Sarava)
Wonderful weather and great food along with beach walks and the odd round of golf (yes John did beat me in both games) has recharged the battery and after the great gig in Punta Del Este on Saturday we are heading off this week.
I am heading down to Tierra Del Fuego for a weeks fishing while Petra heads to the beaches of Mexico and then we meet up the following week back in Buenos Aires. Expect some photos of large fish and big grins :)
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Washington and a couple of days to relax before Thursday’s show at Lima. I like DC, it had a bad rep years ago but I found everyone really friendly. I am staying at the Donavon House Hotel on 14th St which is excellent and have done all the tourist stuff I tend not to have the time to do, so saw the White House, walked up the hill to Senate etc.
I had a night off and some advice from some DC residents on Facebook meant I headed to the 9.30 club to see Beirut perform. Washington was the first of the 3 shows I’m doing with my great friend Hernan Cattaneo this weekend. We’ve done a few back to back gigs this year and it works brilliantly! The crowd at Lima were fantastic and thanks to Pete and Carlos for throwing such a great party.
ORO Night Club The Dominican Republic
Saturday night and i arrived at the brand new Hard Rock Resort in the Dominican Republic.
The hotel is amazing and everyone treated me so well during my stay. special thanks to Miriam for being the perfect host.
The club is amazing with a top of the range Funktion One sound system. Very much based on the Vegas style of clubs I was pleased that my more underground set went down so well especially with the locals who turned up in great numbers and a special thanks to all of them. A few days rest has been really great including being pampered in the spa yesterday. Today I fly to Washington DC, back to the cold and to hook up with my great friend Hernan Cattaneo for our weekend back to back shows. Plus i really must get that Christmas shopping done in DC :)

Vain Orlando Decmeber 9th 2011
And so to Orlando, when the scene really kicked off back in the day Orlando was where it all started for the progressive scene. Firestone will go down in history as one of the best clubs ever. things have changed somewhat for back then but it was still a great pleasure to play at Vain. John Debo runs the night and is a great friend. Thanks to all the fans who turned up and made it such a great night. Next stop is The Dominican Republic playing at ORO in the Hard Rock Hotel. They tell me it is an amazing space with a killer Funktion One sound system.
Cielo New York December 8th 2011
How I love New York, From the first time I ever visited the city touring with Massive Attack in the early 90’s it grabbed my soul. It has so much energy and a feeling that anything is possible so it was a pleasure once again to arrive for Cielo last night. After checking into the Thompson LES I had a quick bite with my manager Leon and we headed up to the club.
it is the first time I have played a Thursday so i wasn’t sure how it would be but when we arrived it was filling nicely. The great thing about New York is there are always a few friends turn up who you haven’t seen for a while, The infamous Sparrow arrived with a bunch of friends as did Alan Green who was working at Cream Liverpool when I was there. it was good to see Ben Coda and too many others to mention. The crowd were on fire last night, a sea of smiling faces and the whole place dancing was a delight to see.
The staff and promoters were brilliant last night, a huge thank you to them all.
I had a chance to do some Christmas shopping in Soho and here I am on the flight to Orlando, this Wifi on board is great :)
USA Tour Jacksonville
Last night at Pure in Jacksonville was a great night. Thanks to everyone for coming out on a Wednesday night. I know work this morning must have been a bit painful for a you and your support means a lot to me. Tracks by Donatello, Dousk and Dominik Eulberg were just a few of the ones that really seemed to get the crowd whooping. I am also sorry for bringing the English weather with me, it was in the 80’s when I arrived and went down to the mid 40’s last night. Thanks to Matt Richardson for putting the party on and for looking after me so well.
Tonight is Cielo in New York which is one of my favorite clubs in the world. We have a film crew with us tonight so put your glad rags on people!
USA Tour December 2011
It really is great to be in the USA again. Arrived in Jacksonville last night from London via Miami. Amazingly it is the first time I have played here and was great to meet Matt Richardson again who with his buddy Pierce took me out for a great steak at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Tonight it is Pure Nightclub in stead of Suite as the guys think we need a bit more space I will give you a review of the night tomorrow
